Too Hot For NYT

This is a great gambit by the McCain campaign: submit an Iraq op-ed (ostensibly a response to Obama's) that's just a little too crazy and nonresponsive for the Times to publish. Then when the rejection comes, leak it to Drudge, where it acquires the taste of forbidden fruit and probably gets broader exposure. Personally I think the flat denial that Maliki favors Obama's timetable is a mistake. They should just try to make him (Maliki) out to be a bad guy with devious motives. It's not like American voters have much emotional investment in the Prime Minister of Iraq.

But a cool trick to pull nonetheless.
